I'm excited that this is gonna be printed on a magazine :) It was designed specifically for the first issue, i.e when the new students are coming in, and is meant to capture some of the fear they might feel when first going to university. The building used is the Auckland University clocktower, which is quite a forboding building given its very unique looking architecture.

This was also quite a learning experience as I painted without any lines, and I don't think I've ever really drawn detailed buildings before :)

Software used: Photoshop CS4
Time taken: 13 hours D:

That's exactly the way I felt on my first day. I've never really thought about how much effort featured artists put into Craccum. Nice work!

How did I miss this being posted?
It's great, much better then the crap they used to put on the front of the Craccum when I was at UoA.

Nice! It reminds me of a scene in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Very cool.

The castle looks like it's gonna get up and walk; wicked lighting, fascinating design, I like the simplicity of the boy in contrast..
